Feng Shui Interior Design

Feng Shui Interior Design and the various practices and systems I use for environment analysis - looking at the various Feng Shui methods. Click here to find out what you can expect from my Feng Shui Consultation.

The main Feng Shui practices I use as a tool for environment analysis

The cardinal and intercardinal directions - commonly used in traditional Feng Shui practices

I Ching – The ‘Book of Changes’ is an ancient Chinese oracle which centres around the 8 Trigrams and their representations. I survey the plot and building shape – dividing them into the 8 Trigrams and central Tai Chi area. One set of Trigrams are analysed for the exterior; Early Heaven Sequence and one set of Trigrams are analysed for the interior; Late Heaven Sequence.

The Lo Shu Square - A numerical square used since ancient times to practice Feng Shui. The total of any line in any direction adds up to the number 15. These are based on the Trigrams and provide a numerical diagram of the Bagua grid.

The Flying Stars – A Feng Shui formula using the cardinal directions and the Lo Shu square. This is used to analyse the space within a building to make the most of the surrounding interior environment. Each sector of the interior represents a Chinese Trigram and Lo Shu number. The combination of stars are used to determine strong or weak areas. 5 Element Theory is used alongside the Flying Stars to either add strength to or drain these areas. I use the Yeun Hom Flying Stars method of calculation.

5 Element Theory – The practise of harmonising the Chinese elements; Fire, Earth, Metal, Water and Wood.

Compass School – Using the specialised Lo Pan compass, readings are taken from various positions on the premises to accurately evaluate the property. I use various methods within Compass School Feng Shui:
• Imperial 24 Heaven Flying Stars – Period 8
• Palace to the Front Door
• Yeun Hom - 8 North East Fate, Period Flying Stars 1996 - 2016
• Flying Stars - Annual Afflictions
• Yearly Visiting Flying Stars

Form School – Observing the surrounding natural and urban landscape and the exterior and interior environment, providing recommendations to create a supportive environment. As well as analysing strengths and weaknesses in the plot and building shape with:
• The Early Heaven Sequence of Trigrams
• The Later Heaven Sequence of Trigrams

The above tools are used to analyse your individual plot & property. They are not faith, belief, religion, psychology or superstition based.
